I have no idea where this came from.
UPDATE: I do have an idea where this came from. I also have a Pinback song in my head that sounds similar. Well, not really. There's one measure of an instrumental in this song that sounds like the melody from the chorus of "Say You, Say Me." Thank god I figured this out!

when i was a kid, i could not tell the difference between lionell ritche and ray parker jr.
When I was in college I worked one summer in Kendall Square, so I took the green line from North Staion to Lechmere. Every single day I was singing songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat by the time I got to work. It took me several weeks to notice that there was a billboard for the show in my line of vision when I was at North Station that I didn't consciously notice, but which obviously permeated my brain.
Lionel Ritchie is ubiquitous because of his daughter, who is photographed everywhere, all the time.
